A surprise visitor. This little guy spent the night on my patio, trying to get away from the bombastic neighborhood fireworks (Some of the blasts were so loud and concussive, they had to be military grade - which they've used before. Why is that necessary?)

He was perched on the light next to our door, but I startled him when I went out to feed the animals this morning and he flew up to this overturned planter on the top of my utility shelf. He stayed in this cubbyhole for a little bit - long enough for me to grab my camera (the ducks had to wait for breakfast) - then moved to our hanging driftwood sculpture right above it when he figured out all was cool. He hung out there all day!

I guess he feels safe here. It's nice to know the animals come to us when they feel threatened.
